Happy June, Sisters!
So school is out and it’s time to enjoy some sleeping in (I hope!) and some summer fun.  We are having some great RS events coming up to facilitate that.  June 13 is a Getting to Know You activity, we will be learning about each other and having fun.  Bring a snack you like and an item that is important to you.  In July we will be making really fun really inexpensive toys for kids.  Unplug and come to our fun activities!!
We also have ongoing service projects, there is one the stake is doing for making hats for cancer patients.  Knit, crochet or loom a hat and donate it to the cancer center.  We have yarn and looms if you’d like to get busy with that! Also keep saving and flattening your plastic bags, making “Plarn” and crocheting bag mats for the homeless.  If all you can do is save bags, that helps too.  There is a quick youtube video on the bag mats and making plarn, you can do it with a cutting mat and rolling cutter or just scissors and a ruler.  We make circles 4” wide, loop them together and “Plarn.” If you would like to learn to crochet this is the time! It’s really easy and because the plarn is so big (using a Q hook to crochet it) you see a lot of progress fast!
There are a lot of ways to help out the people around us. Sometimes just giving someone a call can be a huge blessing to them.  There are a lot of lonely people in the world.  I’m challenging myself to call one person a week to cheer them up and see if they need anything.  I hope you decide to do this too!!  Even in this small service we may see amazing things happen.
I love to set goals and I keep revising my steps and tweaking my habits to make my time more productive and make progress toward being the person my Heavenly Father knows I can be.  I wish I could visit every sister in the ward every month, but I just can’t.  I hope you help me and reach out to those around you and let me know if there is something I can do for you or someone you know.  Praying for our ward is something we are encouraged to do each Fast and Testimony meeting.  I fasted today that I would be more able to meet the needs of sisters and specifically what to say to one sister who is having a difficult time.  I don’t want to offend anyone and so often people choose to be offended where no offence is meant, and it’s hard to know what to say… then many times I decide not to say anything because I am afraid they’d take it wrong… but I don’t want them to feel left out either.  So let’s try not to be offended this month! Let’s take everything people say to us in the best possible light.  You can show the light of Christ by being charitable to those who reach out to you and take it the way the Lord would appreciate if He were talking to you.
Thank you for being my sisters! Heidi
